How it works

Dispute Neutral is a private, fixed-fee, contract-based neutral decision process for suitable commercial disputes.

1) Start the matter

The applicant completes the intake form and pays the applicable fixed fee.

2) CDM issued for signature

A Contractual Decision Matrix is issued for the matter. Both parties sign it electronically.

3) Dispute Neutral acceptance

Once both parties have signed, Dispute Neutral carries out its internal conflict and suitability review. If the matter is accepted, the process moves forward.

4) Upload link released

After acceptance, an upload link is generated for the matter.

5) Written submissions

Each party uploads one case statement file and one evidence file. The case statement limit is 20 pages each excluding exhibits, unless the matter is a non-monetary decision, in which case the limit is 50 pages each excluding exhibits. If the applicant wants a larger written submission allowance, the matter may be upgraded to a higher dispute value band before submissions open.

6) Review and clarification

Dispute Neutral reviews the written materials. A clarification call may be requested by either party or by the neutral if thought necessary.

7) Independent Determination

Dispute Neutral then issues the Independent Determination.

Document access and retention

Uploaded documents are visible to both parties for the purposes of the process. Once the Independent Determination is issued, uploaded documents remain available for 14 days and are then automatically deleted in accordance with Dispute Neutral’s retention policy.
